World Milk Day is celebrated on June 1 of every year. World Milk Day is a day established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to recognize the importance of milk as a global food. It has been observed on June 1 each year since 2001. It is intended to provide an opportunity to bring attention to activities that are connected with the milk industry. The fact that several countries choose to do this on the same day lends new importance to different national celebrations and shows that milk is a global food. Due to the increasing demand for dairy production, related fields such as dairy education, research, veterinary pharmaceuticals, and cattle food supply also benefited. There are schemes like Intensive Dairy Development Programmed, Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality and Clean Milk Production, and Dairy Venture Capital Fund that has helped India become the number one milk-producing country in the world.

Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.” – Barbara Jordan
