National Go Barefoot Day is an annual celebration held on June 1st of every year. Let you be a child or adult, walking or running barefoot gives you lots of benefits. Kick off your shoes to enjoy your summer and feel the freedom of going barefoot. Nothing can compensate for the feeling one gets over strolling on the ground or grass barefoot. So rebel against your shoes for a day and go barefoot as a way to celebrate National Go Barefoot Day. Be where ever you are; just put off the shoes and go sockless.

“You learn a lot when you’re barefoot. The first thing is every step you take is different.” – Michael Franti

History of National Go Barefoot Day

The National Go Barefoot Day has been in celebration since the year 2004. The people at Soles4Souls, a global charity organization, have come up with such an idea and created this Day. It was created after the attack of the Tsunami, a disaster that occurred in 2004. It was aimed at supporting those people who were affected by this natural calamity. The real purpose of Go Barefoot Day is it encourages people to donate shoes, both new and used, in a way that provides support for the victims of natural disasters. Nearly 19 million pairs of shoes have been donated from all over the world in the year 2005. Soles4Souls is a non-profit organization that encourages people to provide their help and support in the form of shoes for millions of underprivileged children who are residing globally. So you can do a little spring cleaning and give away the pairs of shoes you are no longer using to those who are in need of it.

How to Celebrate National Go Barefoot Day

Celebrating National Go Barefoot Day is very simple. Firstly you have to go barefoot as a way to start indulging yourself in celebrating this observance. Next, you have to clean out your closets to donate your pair of shoes that you are not using to those in need as a way to support this Day. You could even organize a shoe drive around your community to collect shoes for those underprivileged people. For a chance, you can take a barefoot walk, even without shocks, leisurely on the beach along with your family. If you can, you can also go to work barefoot. Share your barefoot pictures and your celebration moments on social media using the hashtag #GoBarefootDay.
