Join Hands Day
Join Hands Day is celebrated on the first Saturday of each may. This year it falls on May 5. It is a national day of volunteering which joints older generation with the younger generation to prove their communities. The benefit of this day comes via the friendships which will be made across generations. The new partnerships will be a vital first step in bringing a lot of young people into leadership roles in various organisations. Hence, Join Hands Day is a perfect day to bridge the gap between younger and older generation through community service.
History of Joint Hands Day
In 2000, America’s Fraternal Benefit Societies along with Points of Light Foundation, created the Join Hands Day as a way for the youth and adults to work together as volunteers. For the first two years of Join Hands Day, organisations were asked to enrol their Join Hands Day projects via the official website. After some years, a certain number of groups were chosen to receive a cash award for the beneficiary of their project or another cause and a physical award were recognised at the National Fraternal Congress of America annual conference. Join Hands Day organisers offer members the ideas for group volunteering events which brings youth and adults together in the various community service.
