Extra Mile Day is celebrated on November 1 of every year. It was created to realize the capacity to build positive change in ourselves, our relatives, our companies, and our societies when we “go the extra mile.” It is a special day to commemorate the individuals and the organizations in the local communities that go the extra mile to make a difference. The day also encourages us to renew our commitment to go the extra mile in our effort, service, and volunteerism.

“If you want to succeed at any job, make yourself invaluable. Go the extra mile; make them never be able to imagine what life without you there would be like.” – Ross Mathews

History of Extra Mile Day

In 2009, The Extra Mile America Foundation created this day (a non-profit organization that promotes positive action and a positive attitude toward people) to encourage citizens from all walks of life to live a fulfilling, self-directed lifestyle that doesn’t constrain their potential. It allows them to at least go the extra mile to achieve that target or goal they have always wanted. Now, the day is observed by more than 220 mayors in the United States. On this day, organizations, institutions, and individuals will put their foot forward to ensure that peoples live better life. Hence, it is a perfect day for you to create a positive influence on society and do your best to make the world the safest place and a better place for others.

How to Celebrate the Day

The best way to celebrate the day is by extending yourself in attitude and efforts. It is a perfect day to question yourself whether the path you have chosen in your life is right or not. If you are an employee, think about what you can do to get a promotion or a raise. Simply look yourself in front of the mirror and ask yourself, “What can I do differently to make my life better and happier?”. Share your thoughts online about the day by using the hashtag #ExtraMileDay.
