National Employee Appreciation Day was celebrated annually on the first Friday of March. This year it is observed on March 1. National Employee Appreciation Day is an opportunity for all the companies to thank,  support, and honor their employees for their effort and endurance throughout the year. This day is celebrated every year with the motive of strengthening the relationship between the employee and the employer. Employees are the greatest strength and asset of a company. Showing appreciation to your employees can help in increasing the productivity and profit of the company as appreciation and recognition makes the employees happy and involved in work.

Engaged, enthusiastic, and loyal employees are pivotal drivers of growth and health in any organization.” – Patrick Lencioni.

History of National Employee Appreciation Day

National Employee Appreciation Day was first started by Dr. Bob Nelson, a member of the RPI (Recognition Professionals International) in the year 1995. National Employee Appreciation Day began as a response to Boss’s Day and it is gaining popularity in the United States of America and Canada. On Boss’s Day, employees appreciate and recognize their bosses for all that their bosses have done for them. So in turn on this day all the bosses, company heads, HR, and managers get the opportunity to show their appreciation to all the employees of the company. An important part of any business is the customers, as they are the ones who buy your products and services. But more than your customers your employees are the most important part of your business as they are the ones who service your customers. Employees help in upbringing your company and they put a lot of hard work and effort beyond the scope of their jobs to help your business run smoothly. Training new staff is expensive so to retain your employees and their most valuable skills, treat your employees in a better way and appreciate them for all their hard work and efforts. If you recognize and appreciate your employees like every day is an Employee Appreciation Day then it will improve their performance. National Employee Appreciation Day is not a public holiday but an observance in the United States of America.
