National Day of Hope is celebrated on the first Wednesday of every April. This year, the National Day of Hope is observed on April 5. It is marked during National Child Abuse Prevention Month to dedicate to Child help National Day of Hope. Children around the world are often made to suffer from abuse and neglect. Abuse can be physical or verbal maltreatment, injury, assault, violation, rape, or other types of aggression. This day is a reminder for everyone to help the children in need throughout the world. Anyone can bring hope to other life by being a positive role model and also by living as a good example for the kids around. The primary purpose of the day is to strive to stop child abuse and neglect.

History of National Day of Hope

A Congressional resolution assigned national Day Of Hope or Childhelp National Day of Hope in 2000. Child help is an organization founded by Yvonne Fedderson and Sara O’Meara to help spread hope around the world. They were awarded many times by the groups such as the National Children’s Alliance’s Champions of Children Award, and the Living Legacy Award. Childhelp is a non-profit organization working towards humanitarian aid. It prevails for 50 years working to support millions of children around the world. Childhelp was initially established as International Orphans to assist American soldiers ‘ children and Japanese women. Later it was renamed Children’s Village USA, to Childhelp. Childhelp created the hotline to help children at risk.

One can observe this day by lighting a five-wick candle and being silent for 5 minutes to represent the death of 5 children a day that happens in the United States due to abuse. You can help a friend or a family member who has medical problems. Donate some time by volunteering to help such organizations. You can also give away some money to charities that are in need. Make sure you help to raise awareness of child abuse and the ways to approach the situations when one suspects that it may be occurring. You can also spend some time reading, speaking, laughing with those abused kids who are dealing with the worst trauma. Share your thoughts on social media about the day by using the hashtag #NationalDayofHope.
