Christmas Card Day is celebrated on December 9th of every year. With a few more days to go for Christmas, make sure you have sent a Christmas card for your loved ones. In this technology world, sending cards has become outdated as most of us send messages and emails greetings via phone. Nothing is more valuable than sending handmade cards with heartfelt wishes. Share your wishes through the Christmas cards and make the celebration a wonderful one. The day is celebrated to encourage people to go with the traditional way of greeting as by sending a Christmas card.

“Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. Christmas is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values.” – Thomas S. Monson

History of Christmas Card Day

The history, origin, and founder of Christmas Card Day is unknown. The celebration Day honors Sir Henry Cole of England, who has created the first commercial Christmas Card in 1843. He was a civil servant who was responsible for bringing the idea of sending the greetings written on the now-familiar cards. John Callcott Horsley had illustrated the card, that featured the members of a family. The Christmas card conveys a range of sentiments expressed by people related to Christmas and the holiday season. Christmas cards are usually exchanged with greeting reads like “Wishing you a Merry Christmas,” “Happy New Year,” and “seasons greetings.” It may also be the Christmas-themed poem, songs, biblical verse.
