History of International Chess Day

In 2013, International Chess Day was grandly celebrated in 178 countries. This year, the FIDE will be celebrating its 94th anniversary. The motivate for the creation of the day is to raise the number of chess players around the world and also to encourage everyone to try this fantastic game. It is said that 70% adult population must have played the game at least once in their lifetime. Playing chess can help one unleash their originality, as it activates the right side of the brain, it will also develop one’s problem-solving skills, and raises the IQ.
