World Gratitude Day falls on September 21 of every year. Thankfulness, Gratitude, appreciation, or gratefulness is a feeling or attitude in acknowledgment of assistance that one has obtained or will receive. The service of gratitude has reportedly been a focus of numerous world religions and has been considered in depth by moral philosophers such as Adam Smith. Appreciation may also reinforce future prosocial behavior in benefactors.

“Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.” Charles Dickens

History Of World Gratitude Day

The idea for a ceremony day of appreciation began in 1965 in Hawaii during an international race dinner and it has been feasted on September 21st for the past 51 years. Took place at the East-West Center, the dinner was presented by the director of the United Nations Meditation Group, meditation guru Sri Chinmoy. He hinted at the plan as a Universally unifying vacation and every person in attendance votive to hold a gratitude Assembly every September 21st in their own place.  The United Nations Meditation Group officially feasted World Gratitude Day on September 21, 1977, at the Headquarters of New York, where Sri Chinmoy was honored for his work.  Since its origin, World Gratitude Day has been attended in various countries around the globe.

How To Celebrate World Gratitude Day

Smile and say hi to people as you foot down the street or through a stockpile or restaurant. Allow people on the roads and freeways to merge, and invite that person behind you with one item to go ahead of you at the checkout counter. Express gratitude to all of those people who reinforce you in life, cracking those who may often go unobserved. Gratitude to your mail carrier, the person who helps you out on a tech-reinforced phone call, your trash collector, the wait staff, and the chef at your favorite restaurant. World Gratitude Day is a faultless opportunity to begin a habit of possession of a gratitude journal. Take a period to write down everything you praise. These things can be large or small, easy or complex. Don’t think about it. Just let go and write. Your favorite TV show or novel, Puffy clouds, your pet, your spouse or partner, your favorite meal, the list is truly enduring. You can use the hashtag #WorldGratitudeDay to post on social media.
