On gaining popularity, the Day has become a nationwide celebration. Seeds were considered to be one of the first commodities that are valued and traded. Seed Swap is an event where the gardeners of different parts of the country meet to exchange seeds.
Seed swapping can either be arranged online or by the mail when those in need of seeds are spread out geographically. Gardeners exchange their excess seeds in person are also growing in popularity. In part, this is done as to increased the interest of people in organic gardening and heritage or heirloom plant variants.
