History of Roald Dahl Day
Roald Dahl has an incredible history, and it all started in 1916 in Cardiff, Whale, where he was inborn to Norwegian parents Sofie Magdalene Dahl and Harald Dahl. He misplaced both his sister and his father at the age of three, but his mother chose to endure in Wales to honor his father’s wishes that he be coached in British schools. From there, he went to Repton School in Derbyshire, where one of his most well-known works would be invented. Cadbury always sent chocolate bars to the school to be confirmed by the students, which began Roald having dreams of making the chocolate bar so delicious that Mr Cadbury would admire it. If you figured this was the beginning of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, you’re dead on.
What you will not know is that he transported on to be a Fighter Ace during WWII, and had a long and magnificent career in which he fought in some of the most momentous air battles of the war. Finally, he started involvement in severe headaches that bunged him from flying and spent the rest of his job as a diplomat, writer, and intelligence officer. It was through this time that he wrote The Gremlins, his innovative children’s book, and it was documented for Walt Disney Productions to promote a full-length film that stayed unmade. From there on out, he developed writing prolifically, creating some of the most familiar stories in history.
