Radio Commercials Day is celebrated on August 28 of every year. The commemoration of the day marks the remembrance of the very first radio commercial broadcasted on the New York station, WEAF. You can celebrate the day by tuning in to some radio commercials and making the day enjoyable.

“Technology gives us the facilities that lessen the barriers of time and distance – the telegraph and cable, the telephone, radio, and the rest.” – Emily Greene Balch

History of Radio Commercials Day

The first person or the organization that started celebrating the day is still not found. Although the commercials are often seen as an annoyance as the listeners need to wait for the songs to play, they had been playing an important part for many people by providing employment. However, the day is observed to celebrate the anniversary of the first radio commercial broadcasted on August 28, 1922, on New York station, WEAF. The first radio commercial was aired for Queensboro Realty,  an American estate agent. As to honor and remember this event, Radio Commercials’ holiday is celebrated annually.
