Gaiter and John Brecher created this day in 2000 to motivate people to reconnect with others over a bottle and to create unforgettable memories with family members and friends. On this day, thousands of bottles from all over the world are released from prison. It will come with memories of great vacations, long-lost loved ones, and bittersweet moments. The whole point of the weekly “Tastings” column is that wine is more than the liquid in the bottle. It’s about history, relationships, and all of the things that are necessary for life.
