The history, origin, and the year from when the National Tortilla Chip Day has been in celebration is unknown. There isn’t any mention of the founder who has created this Day for the tortilla chips. However, this famous tortilla chip has been introduced in the year 1940s. It was Rebecca Webb Carranza who has introduced this famous triangle-shaped tortilla chip. Carranza made use of misshapen tortillas that are discarded by the automated tortilla manufacturing machine. She took the rejected tortillas and had cut them into triangles and fried. She had started selling them and is still a popular snack. Carranza has also received the Golden Tortilla award for her incredible contribution to the Mexican food industry in the year 1994.
Tortilla Chip is the snack food made from the corn, vegetable oil, salt and water. It was considered to be a Mexican food and are known as totopos and tostadas. Tortilla Chip is usually made of the yellow corn and is also made of white, blue, or red corn. Wheat, sugar, and monosodium glutamate are the other ingredients used by the manufactures.
