History of National Tortilla Chip Day

The history, origin, and year when National Tortilla Chip Day was celebrated are unknown. There isn’t any mention of the founder who created this Day for the tortilla chips. However, this famous tortilla chip was introduced in the 1940s. It was Rebecca Webb Carranza who introduced this famous triangle-shaped tortilla chip. Carranza made use of misshapen tortillas that were discarded by the automated tortilla manufacturing machine. She took the rejected tortillas cut them into triangles, and fried them. She had started selling them, and they are still a popular snack. Carranza also received the Golden Tortilla award for her incredible contribution to the Mexican food industry in the year 1994.
