Alice Solomon came up with the Gorgeous Grandma concept after graduating from college at 50. The former model, beauty queen, newspaper columnist, and author was not too fond of being labeled a senior citizen the day she turned 50. This day takes place on July 23, and it is planned to celebrate the spirit and life of all those over 50 who aren’t yet prepared to resign themselves to a quiet life. No matter what your grandmother prefers to do with her time, this is the day in which you can be sure she will have plenty of time to do it and plenty of people willing to support her.
