History of World Contraception Day

World Contraception Day

World Contraception Day (WCD) was established in the year 2007 by ten international family planning organizations. It is an annual worldwide campaign centre that has a vision as of where every pregnancy is wanted. The observance of this day to raise the public awareness about the means of contraception. The mission of the WCD is to promote awareness of the contraception and thereby to enable the young people to make informed choices about both their sexual and reproductive health. All the international non-governmental organizations support the observance of this World Contraception Day world for achieving this vision and mission.

The WCD promotes family planning and contraceptive methods that are secured and preferred. It ensures the well-being, autonomy of women and tells how to achieve the progress on the global health goals. Thus by providing awareness about the contraception and reproductive health, the couples will avoid unplanned pregnancy, abortions and even the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. World Contraception Day is supported by a coalition of 16 international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), along with the governmental organizations and scientific and medical societies with interest to spread knowledge about the sexual and reproductive health.
