The classical role of the pharmacist in the field of health sciences has shifted from the “lick, stick, and pour” dispensary role. They have become directly involved in patient care and are an integrated member of the healthcare team. In recent times, pharmacists have advised patients and healthcare providers about the selection of drugs and dosages. They actively interact regarding the nature and side effects of medications. Pharmacists often act as a learned intermediary between a prescriber and a patient. The pharmacists also monitor the health and progress of the patients as a way to make sure that the safe and effective use of medication. They are involved in promoting public health by administering immunizations.
