National Creamsicle Day comes on August 14 of each year. National Creamsicle Day is a perfect day to visit your closest ice cream shop and treat yourself to the cold and delicious creamsicle. “Creamsicle” is a brand name of the ice cream treat consisting of vanilla ice cream on the popsicle stick coated with the exterior of flavored ice. It is made by freezing fruit juice and ice cream around the stick. Once the liquid freezes to solid, the stick can be used as a handle to hold the ice pop.

History of National Creamsicle Day

The founder and origin of the day are still unknown. But the Creamsicle was created in 1905 by Frank Epperson when he experimented the putting fruit juice with vanilla ice cream. In the later years, the word “Episcle” became popularized as Popsicle, Creamsicle, and Dreamsicle. They can be found in a variety of flavors from orange to blue raspberry, lime, grape, cherry, and even blueberry. It has been a staple of the summertime ice cream truck since they started moving around, and they can be served at various warm places since they were spread around as a treat. People have been going around trying all sorts of creamsicles from different areas of the world and locales. Obviously, the ones served on Long Island are less about the orange as they are the big vanilla, while in Florida’s Palm Beach you will get a small amount of vanilla flavor and a crazy amount of orange.
