National Airborne Day comes on August 16 of every year. Airborne Day is a day created by the United States Congress to honor the nation’s airborne divisions of the Armed Forces. Today is the perfect day for us to pay tribute to the courage and dedication of airborne members of the Armed Forces.

History of National Airborne Day
The former President of America, George W. Bush, created National Airborne Day on 2001. August 16 was chosen for the anniversary of the first official US Army parachute jump in 1940. On August 16, 1940, 48 volunteers, who were all members of the Parachute Test Platoon, carried out a successful jump in Georgia. It shows the way forward to hundreds of thousands of other paratroopers who later followed in their footsteps. The successful jump authorized the innovative concept of entering the United States ground combat forces behind the battle line by parachute. These persons represent some of the most prestigious and efficiently trained troops in the Army of the United States.
