National Golfers Day is celebrated on April 10 of every year. National Golfers Day is celebrated by all golf lovers to honor their favorite game. Golf is a ball sport in which players hit the ball into a series of holes in the golf course using a club with the least number of attempts possible. Golf is played in a vast area with 9 or 18 holes arranged in sequence, the number of holes varies depending on the course. The golf course may also have different standard forms of land in between like fairway, rough (long grass), sand traps, and various hazards (water, rocks).

Golf is a search for perfection, for balance. It’s about meditation and concentration. You have to use hand and brain.” – Celine Dion

History of National Golfers Day

It is said that on April 10, 1916, the first professional golf tournament was held, and that is probably why we celebrate National Golfers Day on April 10. There is also another theory stating that the tubular steel golf club shaft was approved for championship play on this day in 1924. The creator of the day remains unknown. The modern golf game originated in Scotland during the 15th century, when it was first recorded to be played, during James II banned the game in 1457 as it was found to be a distraction from learning archery. The Open Championship, also known as the British Open is the first and oldest golf tournament played in 1860 in Scotland, and is still in existence. The Masters, the U.S. Open, and the PGA Championship are the other three major championships in men’s professional golf played in the United States. The ancient golf’s origin is still under debate. However, few historians state that a game called paganica was played by Romans during the first century BC using a bent stick and a stuffed leather ball. Others believe that the Chinese also played a similar game by striking a small ball called chuiwan, between the eighth and 14th centuries.

How to celebrate National Golfers Day

National Golfers Day can be celebrated by going out to a golf course and playing your favorite game. You can take this day as an excuse to put all your work aside and play your best-loved game. Even if you cannot move out of your house, then you can spend the day playing golf on a video game or watching a golf match. Golf is not a team sport, but it is best enjoyed with friends and family. To make National Golfers Day more unique, you can take your female friends to the course and teach them the game, as women do not much play this game. Enjoy the day by spending time with your golf mates in a game. Post pictures and share your thoughts on social media about National Golfers Day by using the hashtag #NationalGolfersDay.
