National Auctioneers Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of every April. This year it will be observed on the 15th of April. The day is celebrated every year to honor and remember one of the most ancient professions in the world. Auctioneering is a sales technique that began more than 2,000 years ago. Auctioneers are people who are in charge of a public sale or auction; they provide service for both the seller and the buyer. They should continue high standards to remain competitive.

History of National Auctioneers Day

The origin and history of the day are not known but as stated by the National Auctioneers Association, this day has been celebrated for more than 25 years.  According to National Auctioneers Association, professional auctioneers sell approximately a quarter trillion dollars in services and goods every year. These auctioneers not only help in selling the products and services but they get the job quickly done entertainingly as well. The 1st auction was held in Babylon in 500B.C. There are different kinds of sales around the world like livestock, surplus auction system, automobiles, and art auctions where artworks are sold. You just can’t imagine, that many things can be put up for sale.
