World Hepatitis Day is observed on 28th July of every year and this day brings the world together under a single theme to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and to make a real change. Hepatitis is a serious health problem of the liver. One cannot live a healthy life Without a liver or with a liver disorder. So, it is critical to solving the problems of the liver and other body organs to lead a healthy life and to make the world disease-free. To achieve this, greater awareness and increased diagnosis are needed.

HBV is 100 times more infectious than HIV. Both HBV and HCV can remain in the patient’s blood for years without any symptoms, and by the time the disease is detected, the patient would already have a severe form of liver disease. But both viruses are treatable, and results of the treatment, lasting from about 28 to 48 weeks and including anti-viral tablets with sometimes weekly interferon injections, are very good.” – D. History of World Hepatitis Day

World Hepatitis Day was celebrated annually on July 28th with the aim to create awareness among ordinary people around the world about hepatitis. To make the society free from hepatitis, this global level recognition program began as an international public health campaign by the WHO. In order to honor the Nobel Laureate Baruch Samuel Blumberg on his birthday on July 28th, it was declared as World Hepatitis Day around the world as he discovered the hepatitis B virus. The day gives an opportunity to create awareness about viral hepatitis among the common public. This day is celebrated annually to encourage the people for the early diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis as many people are affected worldwide with hepatitis and die in large numbers every year.
