History of National Peppermint Patty Day

There isn’t any mention of the year when National Peppermint Patty Day was celebrated. The creator of this day is also not precisely known. However, the history of the Peppermint Patty dates back several years and has been loved by many people from all over the world. The Quiggin family that lived on the Isle of Man, which is an island situated in the middle of the northern Irish Sea, has prepared the oldest commercially made mint patty or cake. It was available since 1840, and four sons in 1880 formed the Kendal Mint Cake Company.

The peppermint patties were made by the regional confectioneries as early as 1900 in the United States. Thomas Ravenel of the York Cone Company, based in Pennsylvania, initially produced ice cream cones and invented the York Peppermint Pattie in 1940. The York’s product was firm and crisp, and the peppermint pattie soon became the premier candy of its kind throughout the world.
