However, the history of the Peppermint Patty dates back to several years and has been loved by many people from all over the world. The Quiggin’s family that lived in the Isle of Man, which is an island situated in the middle of the northern Irish Sea has prepared the oldest commercially-made mint patty or cake. It was available since 1840, and four of the sons in 1880 formed the Kendal Mint Cake Company.
The peppermint patties were made by the regional confectioneries as early as 1900 in the United States. Thomas Ravenel of the York Cone Company based in the Pennsylvania which initially produced ice cream cones has invented the York Peppermint Pattie in 1940. The York’s product was firm and crisp, and the peppermint pattie has soon become the premier candy of its kind throughout the world.
