History of Middle Child Day
In 1980, Elizabeth Walker created the Middle Child Day to honour Middleborn child in every family. Initially, it was observed on the second Saturday in August, but it becomes accepted to follow it on 12th August. Some peoples believe that the order of one’s birth can affect one’s personality. The middle child is said to suffer from middle child syndrome, a feeling of isolation and exclusion within their family. Some studies also have shown that youngest and oldest child in the family will get the most attention from their parents and the middle born child tends to be left by themselves, often forgotten and ignored. They also have to fight for the attention of their parents, and sometimes they feel like they don’t belong to that family. Hence Middle Child Day is a perfect for every parent to understand that all the child in the family are equal and all of them should be treated with proper attention.
