International Project Management Day is celebrated every year on the first Thursday in the month of November. This year, it will be observed on November 2. The International Project Management Day or IPM Day is designed to encourage project-based organizations worldwide or companies who utilize project management methodologies to program some type of recognition event within their organizations or organize locally with others to demonstrate appreciation for the achievements of project managers and their teams.

History of International Project Management Day

In 2004, Laverne Johnson and Lori Milhaven created this day with the team of the International Institute of Learning. They created this day to honor the project managers who work tirelessly to finish the projects efficiently and on time. Project Managers are the backbone of every project in the organization, and they always make sure that everything in the industry is moving smoothly. They work in every industry and sector, from the government to volunteer. It is a Worldwide appreciation of the many project managers and project teams in every organization, including nonprofit organizations and health care, who provide their time, energy, creativity, innovation, and countless times to deliver products, services, facilities, and provide emergency and disaster recovery assistance in every city and community throughout the world. IPM Day is the perfect day to bring the recognition that the project managers deserve for finishing our greatest goals efficiently on time.

How to Celebrate the Day

The best way to celebrate the day is by arranging an appreciation program to honor the project managers. Otherwise, simple meetings and events can be arranged by staff to show their appreciation for project managers. Share your thoughts on social media by using the hashtag #ProjectManagementDay.
