World Choral Day is an annual celebration observed on December 10th of this year. There is one thing in this world that will unite all people irrespective of language and origin. It is none other than music. Choral is a type of music sung by many individuals together, usually during concerts or worship. World Choral Day celebrates those choral people and their unison in bringing the best music, thereby uniting the people.

“I have such happy memories of performing in a choir and I don’t think I’d have got where I am today without all that experience. So my advice to young singers is to either join your school or church’s choir or find one in your local area. Choral music at any level teaches you so much about musicianship and blending your voice.” – Katherine Jenkins

History of World Choral Day

The first celebration of World Choral Day was held in the year 1990 in Helsinki. The celebration has been feasted on the second Sunday of every December since then. Alberto Grau is the person who created this celebration Day. He belongs to the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) and is a teacher, composer, and Choral director from Venezuela. Choral Day is an international choral event that extols the importance of solidarity, peace, and understanding. The Day was approved by the General Assembly of IFCM in August 1990. Alberto Grau is also the founder of a Venezuelan choral group named the Director Schola Cantorum de Caracas. It is this choral group that made him achieve significant winnings. The Venezuelan choral group has laid the foundation for creating many development projects of musical art. The celebration has become a global phenomenon that helps bring people together in peace and harmony through music.
