National Pencil Day is an annual celebration observed on March 30th of every year. Do you ever remember the days your mommy has thought about how to catch the pencil? History of National Pencil Day
The history and origin of National Pencil Day are unknown. There is no mention of the start of this celebration or the creator who came with such a special day for the pencils. The date is precisely chosen as it was on this date in the year 1858 Hymen Lipman received the first patent for attaching an eraser to the top end of a pencil. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted the patent for the modern pencil with an eraser attached to it. The invention of the wooden pencil by Hymen Lipman has received high praise as his pencil has done both writing and drawing in an easy way. It is because of the lightweight nature of the pencil and the eraser fixed on its top that mistakes are removed easily.

The pencil manufacturers painted the first pencils in yellow as the color was associated with royalty and honor. It is believed that this painting, the pencils in yellow color, were introduced by L & C Hardtmuth Company of Austria-Hungary in 1890, who introduced the Koh-I-Noor brand, named after the famous diamond in yellow. Quickly, people began assuming that yellow pencils were the best pencil types. Today, lots of colors are used to paint the outer layer of the pencil. The first known usage of the term “pencil” occurred during the 14th century. The word pencil is derived from the Old French word prince, which means “artist’s paintbrush.”
