National Beer Day is observed in the United States every year on April 7. Celebrate the day with a pint of pale ale, lager, stout, wheat beer, or pale ale. Beer is one of the oldest and most widely consumed alcoholic drinks in the world and the third most popular beverage overall after water and tea. Beer is brewed from cereal grains, most commonly from malted barley, though wheat, maize, and rice are also used. The strength of modern beer is usually around 4% to 6% alcohol by volume, although it may vary between 0.5% to 40% and above. Beer is part of the culture of many nations and is also associated with social traditions such as beer festivals, and many more. Beer probably dates back to about 10,000 BC, when cereal was first farmed and is recorded in the written history of ancient Iraq and ancient Egypt. It is widely enjoyed and celebrated all over the world. So beer deserves to be honored as a day.

History of National Beer Day
National Beer Day is marked when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Cullen–Harrison Act into law on March 22, 1933, from the prohibition since 1920. The law went into effect on April 7 of that year, allowing people to buy, sell and drink beer containing up to 4.05% by volume. On that first day, 1.5 million barrels of beer were consumed, inspiring the future holiday. This day was first created in 2009 by Justin Smith of Richmond, VA. Mike Connolly, Smith, and his other friends also started a Facebook page. Smith used social media to promote this holiday. April 7 is recognized as National Beer Day, and April 6 is known as New Beer’s Eve. Lower-alcohol beer is the most significant seller in the U.S. today. National Beer Day is a celebration of the freedom to brew, consume and sell the country’s favorite alcoholic drink.
