National Area Code Day is celebrated every year on November 10. Area Code Day marks the innovation of area codes and their implementation. Area codes are just a series of buttons hit before a call is made. Area Code Day is a perfect day to honor the innovation of Area codes.

History of National Area Code Day

The creator and the origin of the National Area Code Day are still unknown. The area codes first came into existence in 1940 in the laboratory of AT&T and Bell. The idea of Area Codes expanded in the later years and came into effect in 1947. It is referred to as the North American Numbering Plan, and it would solve the issue of not having enough phone numbers for both countries, the USA and Canada. It started with numbering states and provinces with a single area code, which were assigned codes that had a 0 in the middle. There are some interesting ideas implemented to make dialing much easier. The area codes with the lower number at the beginning and end will be assigned to the people who live in the area, which has a lot of people in it.  In the olden days, phone calls were made easier with the help of rotary dialers.
