National Chocolate Wafer Day

National Chocolate Wafer Day is a food celebration held on July 3 of every year. National Chocolate Wafer Day is celebrated by the chocolate lovers all over the country. The chocolate wafer is a thin, crispy cookie made in chocolate and is commonly used to make chocolate crumb crusts and icebox cakes. They usually taste bittersweet because of the cocoa flavor added to them. Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers is the popular wafer in the country, with wafers being round and dark, and are considered as America’s favorite. These wafers can be enjoyed separately or with ice creams and are also used as an ingredient in cakes, Oreo, and cheesecakes. Each country has their version of chocolate wafer. Enjoy your favorite chocolate wafer with any food and with every meal.

Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.” – Barbara Jordan

History of National Chocolate Wafer Day

The origination of National Chocolate Wafer Day remains obscure. It is believed to be created by a food company, i.e., National Biscuit Company (now known as Nabisco), to enhance their sales and also to market the chocolate wafer widely. In 1924, the chocolate wafers were begun to sold by Nabisco in tins along with sugar wafers and ginger wafers. According to a Washington Post article, the Nabisco’s published an advertisement in the year 1929 for the chocolate wafers. The ad showed the wafers being refrigerated overnight with the whipped cream resulting in a mouthwatering dessert. In 1930, each tin had the recipe of refrigerated chocolate wafer roll printed on it. Thus the chocolate wafer evolved and reached its popularity.

You can use these wafers to make the variety of dishes like pie crust, cookie sandwich, ice cream or a snack.
